The Big Game Election

Header rant

Even though I’m as ignorant as I can be, after I read today’s paper entry about the election (mind you, the whole paper is about election), I came to an endless puzzle on how a candidate is able to say contradicting statements in one seating.

===
‘This will give the ministers an incentive to bring up the income of the lowest 20 per cent of Singaporeans,’ he said to loud cheers.
===

===
Recalling that the Government had argued that it needed to pay top dollar to attract talented people, he asked if money would be the motivation for individuals to serve.
===

Both quoted from one Strait Times article.

Anyone else notice the contradicting essence?

I don’t give a crap about the election (why should I, I’m not involved), but seeing these things made me sad.
So you’re suggesting an idea and later you discredit it yourself?

~Mind
